Maxim Festival - Content Managed, E-Commerce Website

An African creative awards festival needed a serious web presence.

The Brief

Maxim Festival a newly launched awards festival for the African continent, with the aim to promote and award agencies in the advertising, marketing and media industries.

Elemental was briefed to design and develop this website to provide more information about the festival, the awards, the entry process, as well as allow agencies to register and create their entries for the various awards categories.

The website was required to allow users to purchase merchandise, award entries and passes to the festival and pay for such entries online via credit card / e-commerce facilities.

Our Approach - Part 1

The first phase was to create the look and feel of the website, based on the existing corporate identity and branding.

A thorough design process ensued according to the client's requirements: a clean, simplistic look and feel, with strong use of the brand's colours. User-friendliness was of paramount importance due to the website’s size.

The design also had to be responsive compliant to ensure that the website would work on mobile phones and tablets (high mobile penetration in Africa) and finally various e-commerce possibilities meant that people should easily be able to purchase a variety of items, from merchandise, award entries and festival passes, usability again was a major consideration.

Our Approach - Part 2

The second phase comprised of the web development, meaning the physical creation of the website and all associated functionality.

This functionality included allowing users to register an account, login to their profile, enter various awards by uploading required information and making payments for each award through the e-commerce facility on the website.

A custom built e-commerce shopping cart meant users could purchase merchandise, award entries and festival passes by paying with their credit card online. The website support multiple currencies (Rand and US Dollars), giving users the freedom to pay in their desired currency.

The bespoke content management system provided staff with a web based platform where they can manage the website content, view award entries and e-commerce purchases in realtime.

BOOM! Another Successful project.

The website provides Maxim Festival with a professional and content rich online presence, getting people interested in the festival and to find what they are looking for whether it be on a desktop, mobile phone or tablet.

It also allows the festival to make use of the website as a tool to streamline award entries, monitor and process payments for merchandise, festival passes and award entries.

This results in the website being an effective online platform allowing Maxim Festival to save a huge amount of time and essentially money, it also reinforces the brand as an up and coming awards festival in Africa for marketing, advertising and media industries.
